Dexter Dhillon

Happy Birthday Dexter Dhillon. He was a pug put up for adoption by the naughty 15 year old who surrepentiously got him home during his board exams. I took him up. Not only is he the apple of everyone's eyes - he also inspired the Dexter print - hand blocked  and has a whole collection names after him. He chases dogs twice his size, true to his name: he is Dexter!!!!  Here he is, 4 years old, and raring to go !

No Turns

No U Turns:
Just as this symbolic sign behind me says: No Turns. Never look back, always walk forward and the path unfolds bit by bit as surely as the sun rises daily. We never have the exact game plan drawn out prior to the war, one can never have the whole picture but taking it each mile at a time, the road ahead unfolds. The greatest city in the world, is a beast, and to conquer it one needs to be made of steel, which I am.  Harsh and exhilarating in its duality, I see new facets of New York in these 78 days. I'll be back, New York City.

Subway Stories

Subway musings: Well, an unusually empty and quiet subway stop calls for a picture. Subways are a big part of the New York culture.

Srila Prabhupada

This is the original temple and Srila Prabhupada's original temple. 2nd avenue in the east village is where it is all happening. And the Saturday evening feast is divine.

I am wearing a New Hat

It's another way of saying, doing something new. These are pictures in the New York Subway, hat's makes winters and summers fun !

Thanksgiving in Staten Island

Giving thanks for my friends who are like family, away from home, and to the magic of my life. Truly a destiny's child, I only flow with the greatest design he has for me. I ask, he answers, always. This place reminds me of the one of my favourite Hindi films: kal ho na ho shot in New York. Staten Island: photos by Hikarus.

Tango Milonga

The tango milonga's are fantastic. Really wonderful evening of dancing and socialising here in New York City.

Bootstap challenge part 1

Travel challenge: 6 months of couch-surfing (total 166 days in 22 kgs luggage) while building a new company in a new sector (investment advisory) in 2 continents - Europe & America.                            last 20 days left !!!! Root for me. I visualize a Chris Gardner ending! And will write a book on the incredible adventures in these months.
 Challenge ends dec 16, 2015
Start of Travel, I select June 13. It's my lucky number, and the flight is 123. My guiding number ! And the movie that I saw on the airplane is called 'wild' - the girl who walks the pacific crest trail (pst) in California: hitch hicking and backpacking. That movie changed my mindset towards my journey and I  set my challenge: I am going to couch surf to build this company. 6 months, 2 continents

And I am journaling the challenge.

So, part 1 version which you already know.

 June in Florence, Italy
My luggage never exceeded 22 to 25 kgs. I let a lot of things with friends And gifted a lot along the way. But magically, i never seema to run out of Clothes or Shoes And had stuff for all occasions. Meetings, cocktails, galas at the Plaza hotel, concerts, sveltering summer at record 45 degrees And freezing Winter. There were pitstops for energy recharging always, as we taureans need our rest periods. The italian riveria offered solace as did east Village And Brooklyn artistic energies.
Phase 1: Europe done. Back to india to pick up winter clothes and fly to Wall Street, New York
Couch-surfing (friends lent me their couch to camp while I did business development meetings and met investment banks.
Part 1: First 90 days in Italy. Good ground covered.

Part 2 posting from America.

Hope you are rooting for me in these final 20 days of the Challenge.
The summit is yet to be climbed.....New York took time to acclimatize, also I lost time as none of my bank credit or debit cards from india or italy worked, so I spent a week fixing that. In addition, coming from the italian summer into this frenetic pace, took time to get in this mega river of energy. One had to be a strong swimmer here because it's swim or sink.
Will I make it, in New York, the greatest city in the world 'the empire'.
All I can say is: It's not over until I win ! And let's step up the pedal and push the gas.

Winter in Colour

Winter looks: although winter is around the corner, I like colour. Vearing towards mustard and teal. The bronze skirt is s find from banana republic. Fascinated with east village and the Ukrainian village. These boots with red lace-ups are lined with fur and keep me warm. Walked from 52nd street to Houston and back. That's over a 104 streets. Woo-hoo New York City.

Picasso's Muse and Companion: Gilot

Muse number 6, Francoise Gilot was Pablo Picasso's lover for 11 years and had 2 children with him: Claude and Paloma. Now 93 and an artist in her own right, she paints. She was also the only woman not destroyed by Picasso. She left him with her 2 young children and moved to New York where she wrote a best seller book: life with Picasso, which Picasso tried to stop from getting published and dis-inherited his children from her as a result.
So wonderful to meet Gilot in person. I noticed her stunning neckpiece immediately and her sense of style & taste immediately. One Degree of separation from the great master Pablo.  I could imagine and feel the world of the prodigal master, Pablo Picasso and Francoise Gilot.

Pablo's painting of Francoise Gilot. She left him and was the only woman not destroyed by him.
